Live-In Equine Intern

Flood Farm

Long Beach , Washington

We are seeking a hard-working and self-motivated individual to assist with the care of our animals, including the feeding, exercising, and grooming of our three Arabian horses. Our ideal candidate should have a solid foundation in animal care and horseback riding, as well as a passion for learning and interest in small farm operations.

**Please note that this is a work-trade position and will be coordinated with a second intern.**

Daily tasks will include:

Milking the family dairy cow

Collecting and marketing duck eggs

Handling and socializing German Shepherd puppies (when applicable)

The above work is done in exchange for room, board, and a $200 monthly stipend (extra work available). Each intern is guaranteed one day off per week, which is coordinated with the other intern. Room and board includes a private room, utilities, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, food, and farm fun (basketball court, a dock on Loomis Lake with two kayaks, and access to the beach).

We are very involved in a local theater group (Peninsula Association of Performing Artists), follow the Monks of New Skete’s ‘The Art of Raising a Puppy’, regularly exercise our horses on the beach, and use Parelli Natural Horsemanship techniques on the ground and in the saddle. We encourage our interns to join us in these fun activities, as we like to view them as an extension of our family.
