Farm Laborer/Mechanic

Large Dryland wheat farm in search of skilled and versitile team worker in field and shop work.  Full time posting with 40 + hours a week with seasonal overtime. Monday through Friday with Saturdays as needed.  Ideal candidate would likely have experience operating heavy equipment including trucks, tractors, combines essential to a dryland operation. Experience is a plus, some on job training is an option.  Pay will be based on valuable experience-  $20 +

• Drive and control equipment to support agricultural activities such as tilling soil; planting, cultivating, mowing, and harvesting crops
• Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery. Learn GPS assist programs. Be willing to get a Private Applicators license with on job training
• This includes pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers
• Attach farm implements
• Load and unload crops or containers of materials, manually or using hand trucks or forklifts, able to lift 50 lbs or more as needed
• Operate trucks to carry farm equipment, crops on and off road. Valid Drivers License required, CDL a bonus
• Adjust, repair, troubleshoot and regular service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions
• Light duty tasks may include any combination of the following: Record information about crops, such as chemical applications and shop/machinery maintenance
• Clean work areas and maintain grounds and shop
• They must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions
• Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical, and other systems and their components
• Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers)
• Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, repair manuals, computer skills etc
• A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
• Excellent communication skills, problem-solving ability, independent thinking
