The Student Farm at Penn State is now offering paid opportunities for current Penn State students interested in working and learning with the Student Farm in our fourth growing season! Visit studentfarm.psu.edu to learn more about the program. Interns will be accountable for ensuring safety, maintaining quality produce, and contributing to a fun, collaborative, and educational work environment. Student farmers will learn about and engage in farm management, production, and marketing while incorporating community and education through coordinating volunteers, tours, class visits, events, and more. Experience in relevant fields is welcome, but not required. More important is the motivation to learn and contribute to a positive work environment. A three-credit training course is required during the 2019 Spring semester.

Pay is $11.00 per hour. Summer work begins May 6, 2019 for 20-40 hours per week. Summer fieldwork is primarily between 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.; with additional afternoon, evening and weekend hours required. Fall work is 12-15 hours per week through late November.

Work is primarily outdoors, but includes some computer-based work such as record keeping and blog writing. Will drive a university vehicle as needed. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the Student Farm is required. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
