Corteva Agriscience™ has an opportunity for a Research Assistant in Waimea, Hawaii. The research assistant will execute high-level farm tasks such as seed planting, transplanting and cultivation operation. The assistant will operate a variety of farm equipment for additional tasks such as mowing, soil preparation, and area maintenance. The incumbent will also be responsible for the basic maintenance and cleanliness of field equipment. This person will follow verbal and written instructions pertaining to research operations as well for completing required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • To execute planting operation.
  • To execute cultivation operation.
  • To execute transplanting operation.
  • To execute other related farm operation tasks such as soil preparation, crop destruction, mowing, and conservation activities as necessary.
  • To execute a high level of cleanliness and preventative maintenance on equipment in order to prevent breakdowns or malfunctions.
  • To follow instructions and protocols for the above activities and execute good communication with supervisor at all times.
  • Support research efforts by understanding principles of trait purity.
  • Maintenance of safety equipment in general.
  • Perform basic vehicle/equipment maintenance and fill out the required maintenance forms.
  • Understand general stewardship principles.
  • Understand worker’s protection standard and safety procedures and policies.
  • Good attitude to cross train in other areas of the company.


To qualify for this position, you must possess the following:

  • High School diploma and experience with farm equipment is a must.
  • Specialized knowledge and technical skills related to Agronomy practices
  • License to drive in US
  • Able to follow protocols with a high level of detail
  • Able to take a leadership role amongst peers
  • Willingness to work a varied schedule including occasional evenings and/or weekends
  • Able to understand coordinates in a farm
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organization and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
  • Ability to learn how to use tablets, computers, or any other electronic device is essential
  • Able to lift at least 50ibs
  • Experience with farm planting equipment preferred
