OVERVIEW: The Rodale Institute is seeking a driven and hardworking individual to care for and maintain the grounds at the Working Tree Center/Founders Campus. Individuals must be committed to working in all weather conditions and must have experience with lawn maintenance equipment. All candidates must be prepared to work in a professional environment, complete tasks carefully and in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lawn Mowing
  • String trimming
  • Leaf removal
  • Tree pruning and limb removal
  • Picking up trash and debris
  • General grounds maintenance
  • Weed and Pest management
  • Irrigation
  • Maintain accurate lawn and grounds records
  • Assist other departs as needed
  • Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and storage areas
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Previous grounds keeping experience is preferred
  • Interest in agriculture, landscaping, and farming, with a commitment to an organic planet
  • Incredibly organized, attentive to detail, ability to work independently, multi-task and be a team player
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Knowledge and experience using lawn mowing equipment, string trimmer, leaf blower, chain saw, drip irrigation systems, and garden tools preferred
  • Ability to follow directions and problem solve
  • Must be prompt, responsible and focused
  • Must be able to move freely around the farm, have the ability and willingness to operate machinery

Additional Information

Location: Rodale Institute Founders Farm located in Allentown, PA

Schedule: Seasonal Position April 29-September 21, 40 hours per week for 20 weeks (week of July 1 Assistant Staff is off)
