Alaska Agro is seeking a motivated and skilled Farm Hand to join our dynamic agricultural team. As one of Alaska’s leading producers of agricultural commodities, we are proud to be advancing agricultural growth in one of the most unique and rewarding environments in the world.

This role offers a hands-on opportunity to work outdoors in a fast-paced, large-scale farming operation. You will play a key role in daily farm activities including equipment operation, crop production, maintenance, and general operations. On-site shared housing in a newly renovated home is provided, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the farm life while enjoying one of the most spectacular agricultural settings Alaska has to offer.

This position is ideal for individuals with a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a passion for agriculture who are eager to grow their skills and contribute to the future of Alaska’s agriculture industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment including tractors, combines, sprayers, loaders, semi-trucks, and power tools.
  • Support planting, spraying, harvesting, grain handling, haying, and crop production activities.
  • Perform basic mechanical repairs, maintenance, and welding to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Assist with general farm maintenance including fencing repairs, construction projects, grounds upkeep and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Participate in all aspects of crop cultivation and care for barley, oats, hay, grass seed, and other crops.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient and safe farm operations.
  • Perform duties in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, dusty environments, and extended workdays during peak seasons.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven experience in farming or agricultural operations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience operating and maintaining a wide range of farm equipment.
  • Welding and repair experience is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of precision agriculture systems and basic agronomy is a plus.
  • Ability to safely perform heavy lifting and operate equipment such as forklifts and loaders.
  • Basic math skills for measurements, planting rates, spraying calculations, fertilization, and inventory tracking.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills, willingness to learn, and a positive, hardworking attitude.
