As part of our North America Agriculture organization, you’ll play a key role in supporting potato production and grower engagement in the region. The Agronomist will collaborate closely with local growers, internal stakeholders, and industry partners to ensure optimal crop performance, drive innovation through research and technology adoption, and strengthen grower relationships.

Please note this is a full-time, contract position. This role will report to the Agronomy Manager, West.

What you’ll be doing.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with growers across the region, delivering technical solutions and best practices that enhance yield and quality.

  • Lead local potato variety development through regional trials and commercialization efforts in partnership with the North America Agronomy Optimization and Variety Development teams.

  • Contribute to the North America Agronomy strategic plan and deploy grower improvement plans and annual performance goals to drive breakthrough results.

  • Develop and share recommendations on Best Management Practices (BMPs) related to crop nutrients, protectants, and storage management to optimize plant health and productivity.

  • Collaborate with McCain Field Representatives to collect, maintain, and analyze data on crop development, quality, and yield throughout the growing and storage seasons.

  • Utilize McCain’s digital systems — including the Potato Database (PDB), Potato Contracting & Receiving (PC&R), and GMS — to track, analyze, and report agronomic performance.

  • Participate in and, at times, lead workstreams or key initiatives that support the Agriculture strategy.

  • Strong analytical, statistical, and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills — including comfort with public speaking.

  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively in fast-paced environments.

  • Commitment to safety and sustainable agricultural practices.
