Job Description Primary Location Charles Page High School Salary Range Per Year Shift Type Full-Time

Qualifications: Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Assigned Subject(s)/ Secondary Agriculture Education Instructor/CTE, and pass an OSBI Background Check

Job Goal: Provide exceptional instruction to assigned students while working within the district's established policies and procedures. Applicants should possess a strong desire to have a successful, well-rounded program and be proficient in agriculture mechanics, horticulture, classroom instruction, and swine. All applicants should be highly organized, professional, and proficient in dealing with the community and the public. 

Classroom Instruction:

Teach Agriculture Science and Technology classes
Prepare teaching plans, demonstration plans, and teaching materials for all classes  
Prepare and evaluate teaching schedule, curriculum, and teaching calendars  
Conduct field trips, both in and out of the district
Coordinate, maintain inventories, and keep records of classroom and laboratory agriculture materials and equipment
Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAEP)

Advise and evaluate students regarding Supervised Agriculture Experience Programs
Assist students with the planning and maintenance of SAEP's 
Conduct site visits of SAEPs as recommended by the State Department of Education 
Assist students in keeping SAEP records at the local and state level
FFA: 

Be willing to serve as an advisor for the FFA chapter
Assist students in coordinating FFA activities at the local, district, state, and national levels
Prepare and train FFA and agriculture contest teams and entries
Assist students in preparing applications for proficiency awards, state and American Degrees, etc
Assist students in conducting a public relations program for the local FFA chapter and agriculture department
Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Establishes and implements classroom procedures designed to maximize student learning in an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the student's maturity and interests
Prepares detailed weekly written lesson plans consistent with Oklahoma Academic Standards, designed to teach skills on course curriculum maps, and timely submits plans to an assigned principal
Complies with and fully implements all Individualized Education Plans and behavioral or academic interventions
Maintains a neat and orderly classroom, including the physical arrangement of the room, student records, and materials
Handles routine classroom discipline fairly
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the school fairly and justly
Attends and participates in all required meetings and conferences, including professional development and planning meetings, and strives for professional growth
Maintains complete and accurate student records, including attendance, performance, and discipline records
Provides professional and regular feedback to students and parents, ensuring compliance with all laws, district policies, and procedures. Communicates regularly with parents using notes, phone calls, conferences, etc
Utilizes professional behavior in all school-related interactions
Complies with all federal, state, and local laws, board policies, and procedures
Uses formative and summative data to guide instruction, plans for student interventions, and communicates progress to parents
Provides individualized and small group instruction, adapting the curriculum as needed
Provides a technology-enriched environment to support student learning
Maintains availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day
Plans and coordinates the work of teacher assistants, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips
Collaborates with other professionals to enrich and improve students' academic progress
Plan and attend evening activities, including but not limited to recruitment events, consulting committee meetings, and award ceremonies
Be willing to obtain license endorsements for the transportation of students
Serve as liaison to the local FFA Alumni chapter
Contribute to the preparation and tracking of the budget for the agriculture program each year
Purchase supplies and equipment for the classroom and laboratory
Cooperate in maintaining, planning, and improving the physical facilities
Complete and file required reports with appropriate agencies, including the State Department of Education
Contribute to the grant writing process for the acquisition of agricultural equipment, materials, and facilities
Performs all other tasks as a supervisor may assign

Regular Requirements: Stand for extended periods; walk; twist at the neck and trunk; bend and reach with hands and arms overhead, above the shoulder, and horizontally; repetitive use of fingers and hands to grasp and/or operate equipment and demonstrate lessons to students; lift/move up to 15 pounds

Occasional Requirements: Lift/move up to 70 pounds, ability to administer CPR

Visual Requirements: Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information
