Senior VP of Agronomy - York, NE

Purpose:

The Sr. Vice-President of Agronomy leads the division with a focus on strategic sales growth, delivering innovative, high-impact solutions that drive member value and cooperative profitability. As part of the senior leadership team, this role aligns agronomic services with business objectives to enhance market competitiveness, operational excellence, and long-term success. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Develops financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; and developing action plans.
  • Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances.
  • Leads the Agronomy Leadership Team.
  • Responsible for Agronomy P and L.
  • Works with Sr. Team to create short- and long-term strategic plans for CVA.
  • Oversees purchasing/pricing, sales for the Agronomy Division.
  • Works with operations on Cap Ex process for Agronomy Division.
  • Providing timely, accurate, and complete reports on the operating condition of the division.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with the Board of Directors.
  • Oversees patron strategy/engagement for Agronomy Division.
  • Oversees employee engagement for Agronomy Division.
  • Develops relationships with peers.
  • Works with operations on Asset Optimization Program involving the Agronomy Division.
  • Collaborating with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational structure and accompanying infrastructure of systems and processes designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the division.
  • Promotes safety culture for CVA.
  • Ensures compliance with legal and company policies.
  • Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Directly supervises 4 to 8 employees.

 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in conjunction with division heads.  Focus on highly engaged workforce with great communication skills.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Be fiscally responsible for the way money and resources are used and managed.
  • Makes sound decisions based on reasons, facts, analytics and observations. 
  • Develops contacts and relationships which are internal and external to the organization and facilitates work efforts or to gain support and cooperation from others. 
  • Have great leadership skills.
  • Has visionary skills.
  • Possesses a high level of business acumen.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and establish effective working relationships with internal operations and external customers.  
  • Strong competencies in computer applications including Microsoft products.
