Overview
As a Secondary Teacher, CTE - Agriculture (9-12), you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional virtual instruction that prepares students for careers in agriculture, agribusiness, animal science, plant science, natural resources, food science, and related agricultural industries. This multi-state position serves students enrolled in our virtual school programs across Iowa, Indiana, and Washington. This position requires expertise in Agriculture and the ability to deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that develops technical knowledge, industry-relevant skills, and career readiness. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of virtual teaching methodologies, technology integration, and the ability to inspire and engage students in a virtual learning environment.
Essential Duties
- Develop and adapt curriculum materials that align with state standards and industry expectations while meeting the diverse learning needs of virtual students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive online learning environment that promotes student engagement, collaboration, and career readiness.
- Utilize innovative instructional strategies, multimedia resources, demonstrations, simulations, and project-based learning to deliver engaging CTE instruction.
- Participate in live learning sessions and prepare recorded instructional activities with support from the designated Department Chair.
- Design, administer, and assess student assignments, projects, industry-based learning experiences, and exams.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student growth and technical skill development.
- Offer additional support and resources to students requiring academic assistance.
- Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and performance.
- Stay informed on agriculture industry trends, CTE curriculum developments, and virtual instructional best practices.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and collaborate with colleagues to strengthen instructional practices.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching Agriculture or working in a related agricultural industry; virtual teaching experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of career pathways related to agribusiness, animal science, plant science, food science, natural resources, environmental systems, and agricultural technology.
- Demonstrated competency in delivering career-focused, project-based instruction.
- Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision, including the ability to manage a digital task list and maintain a stable remote (home-office) infrastructure.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience using the Google Workspace suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) in a professional or academic setting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas via written channels (Email, Google Chat, and Document Comments) with high clarity and low ambiguity.
- Access to a private, secure, high-speed internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.
Education & Certification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching license or Career and Technical Education (CTE) authorization appropriate for teaching Agriculture in Iowa, Indiana, or Washington required.
- Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain additional teaching certification or CTE authorization in the organization's assigned program states, as needed.
- Appropriate CTE endorsement, authorization, or verified agricultural industry work experience that satisfies state licensure requirements preferred.
