Your day as a Ranch Manager

Reliant AG and ENERGY is excited to announce an opening for a full-time Ranch Manager at the JT Ranch, a historic 14,051+ acre operation located near Springer, New Mexico. Comprising approximately 10,570 acres of deeded land and around 3,481 acres leased from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the JT Ranch is a pivotal component of our livestock operations. The ranch specializes in stocker calf and cow-calf programs that directly support the Reliant Livestock and Meat Division. As Ranch Manager, you will play a vital leadership role within our livestock team, ensuring efficient operations and fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and customer-centricity. Are you the Ranch Manager we're looking for?

To excel as the Ranch Manager at JT Ranch, candidates must possess a robust set of leadership and management skills, coupled with a deep understanding of ranch operations. Proficiency in budgeting is essential, as you will be responsible for preparing the annual ranch budget. A strong background in cattle management will enable you to effectively plan, manage, and promote the health and growth of the herd. Familiarity with maintaining ranch infrastructure, including facilities, fencing, equipment, and water systems, is critical; you should also be adept at identifying areas for improvement and new construction. Skills in pasture management and grazing strategies will promote land sustainability and productivity.

Additionally, you will manage inventories, ensuring operational supplies are effectively tracked. Collaboration with internal teams is essential for regulatory compliance and safety adherence. A commitment to continuous learning through industry seminars and training programs will further enhance your expertise and ensure alignment with best practices in livestock management.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Provide overall leadership and management of daily ranch operations.
  • Prepare annual budget for the ranch.
  • Plan, manage and care for cattle growth and health.
  • Maintain ranch infrastructure including facilities, fencing, equipment and water systems; provide recommendations for improvements and new construction.
  • Develop and implement pasture management and grazing strategies to promote long-term land sustainability and productivity.
  • Manage inventory of operational supplies and assets including equipment, fuel animal health products supplements, fencing materials and tack.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient workflows, regulatory compliance, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Partner with leadership to evaluate and plan potential land and herd expansion opportunities.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices through participation in cattle industry seminars and training programs.
