JOB SUMMARY: The Farm and Ranch Hand will assist in the daily operations of the Kiowa Tribe's Farm and Ranch Program, ensuring the proper care, maintenance, and management of livestock, crops, equipment, and land. This position will also be responsible for operating and transporting the department's roll-off dump bins using a dually truck, ensuring timely waste disposal and site cleanup. The Farm and Ranch Hand will work closely with the Farm and Ranch Manager to maintain an efficient and sustainable agricultural operation while supporting waste management efforts.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Assist with feeding, watering, and general care of livestock, ensuring their health and well-being.
- Operate and maintain farm and ranch equipment, including tractors, skid steers, mowers, and fencing tools.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on farm infrastructure, including barns, fences, and irrigation systems.
- Help with planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops as part of the Tribe's agricultural operations.
- Monitor pastures and grazing areas, ensuring proper land use and livestock rotation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of barns, storage areas, and workspaces.
- Load and transport livestock and equipment as needed.
- Oversee the operation, loading, and transportation of roll-off dump bins using a dually truck.
- Haul roll-off bins to and from designated dump facilities, ensuring proper disposal and site cleanliness.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines for operating heavy equipment and handling livestock.
- Support other farm, ranch, and waste management activities as assigned by the Farm and Ranch Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in farm or ranch operations.
- Experience operating and maintaining farm equipment.
- Ability to drive a dually truck and haul roll-off dump bins (CDL preferred but not required).
- Basic knowledge of Iivestock care and crop management.
- Experience with waste management and site cleanup is a plus.
- Strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
- Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. and perform physical demanding tasks.
- Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Majority of work performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Frequent lifting, bending, walking, and carrying heavy objects.
- Regular operation of heavy machinery and vehicles, including dually trucks and roll-off bins.
- Exposure to livestock, dust, noise, and potential hazards associated with farm and ranch work.
- Extended hours may be required during peak farming, ranching, and waste disposal periods.
