Part-Time Extension Program Assistant, Agriculture & Natural Resources, Cocke County: UTIA

The Part-Time Extension Program Assistant will work up to 16 hours a week focusing on Agriculture & Natural Resources educational programming. This position is responsible to the County Extension Director and will work under the direction of the lead Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent to implement approved educational programs in group settings for youth and adult audiences. 



Responsibilities
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate programs in the areas of Agriculture & Natural Resources. 
  • Keep abreast of the latest information in Agriculture, Marketing and Community Economic Development to meet the educational needs of the county. 
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with Extension staff, commercial producers, agri-business, agricultural agencies, and general public. 
  • Develop a cadre of supporters and volunteers to aid in the delivery of programs. 
  • Secure extramural funds through grants, fee-based programs, and gifts. 
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of program accomplishments and impacts into the UT Extension reporting system. 
  • Responsible to the County Director in all administrative and program matters. 
  • Provide leadership for a program of activities that meets the needs of all eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion or veteran status. 
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned. 


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Two to three years of related experience desired
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:   
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and Word Perfect.
    • Teaching skills with youth and/or adults
  • Successful applicant must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license
  • Clear background check will be required.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s Degree
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Teaching experience 

Work Location:

Onsite at the UT Extension Cocke County office in Newport, TN.
