Job Summary
The CTE Agriculture Mechanics Part-Time Teacher will provide students with hands-on instruction in
agricultural mechanics, including welding, fabrication, construction, equipment operation, small engine repair,
and related technical skills essential to the agricultural industry. The teacher will design and deliver engaging
lessons aligned with state standards and industry expectations, ensuring students gain both theoretical knowledge
and practical skills. The teacher will provide instruction in safety protocols and stress the importance of adhering
to all safety expectations. Any safety violations will be subject to disciplinary actions. In addition, the teacher will
maintain a safe and productive learning environment, oversee shop operations, and promote student participation
in activities, competitions, and preparation for industry-recognized certification exams. This position requires
collaboration with colleagues, industry partners, and the community to prepare students for career and
postsecondary success in agricultural and technical fields.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Create and implement lesson plans for agriculture mechanics courses, ensuring alignment with state and
district standards.
• Instruct students in the proper hand tools, power tools, and equipment, following all safety guidelines
and precautions.
• Teach a broad range of skills, including welding, metal fabrication, and construction.
• Work with all students in project builds to compete in regional/state/and national competitions,
including design and fabrication of projects.
• Enforce shop and laboratory safety protocols at all times.
• Maintain all equipment in safe and operable condition to ensure safety features are installed and
functioning.
• Evaluate student learning through formal and informal testing, practical assessments, and observation of
hands-on-skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage and supervise a diverse group of students in a classroom and shop
setting.
• Be willing to accommodate students with competitions, travel arrangements, and supervision during
competition events.
• Ensure all documentation and reports meet state and federal compliance requirements and deadlines.
• Engage in professional development related to accountability systems, CCMR indicators, and effective
practices for supporting student performance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning
of the Agriculture Mechanics program.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
• Work location is in a class and shop setting, with occasionally off-site meetings, training, and
student competitions.
• Work may require lifting moderately heavy materials or equipment, standing for long
periods, and working both indoors and outdoors.
• Must be able to travel.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Certification
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agricultural
Education, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Preferred teaching certificate in Trade and Industrial Education
• Documented welding certification and proficiency in multiple welding processes (e.g., SMAW, MIG,
TIG).
• Minimum of three (3) years of full-time wage-earning experience in agricultural mechanics, welding,
fabrication, construction, or related industry.
• Experience as a business owner or in managing agricultural mechanics operations preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and prepare students for hands-on projects, competitions, and
industry-recognized certification exams.
• Strong commitment to safety practices in shop and lab environments.
• Experience with using multiple data sources to progress-monitor student performance and academic
growth to improve academic and/or postsecondary outcomes is preferred.
