Qualifications Required:   

  • 5+ years' experience in one or more of the following: 
    • Mechanical work 
    • Construction 
    • Farm work 
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently, and follow through on assigned projects 
  • Strong understanding of quality standards on a high-end farm or interest in learning 
  • Ability to collaborate with a team to set and execute priorities 
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons 

Working collaboratively with Owner and Farm Manager, responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

Daily- Property/Farm Related (50%) 

  • Work with Farm Manager to determine daily and long-term property care priorities 
  • Maintain 75 acres of lawn, pastures, and riding arenas 
  • Assist with general farm operations, including: 
  • Mowing, dragging paddocks, weeding, pruning 
  • Fixing fencing, building jumps 
  • Moving round bales, restocking hay with tractor 
  • Dumping muck trailers, addressing storm damage 
  • Assist with landscape vendor coordination 
  • May include occasional stall cleaning depending on turnout schedules or staff coverage needs 

Daily- Building Maintenance Related (40%) 

  • Independently manage daily task list for facility upkeep 
  • Create and maintain a long-term maintenance plan for a 20-year-old horse facility 
  • Perform minor plumbing, electrical, and facility repairs 
  • Recognize when repairs require contractor involvement

Daily- Mechanic Related (10%) 

  • Routine maintenance and care of farm equipment: zero-turn mowers, tractors, RTVs, weedwhackers 
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify when to escalate to a professional 
  • Maintain and repair automatic waterers 
  • Provide expert input regarding new equipment purchases 

Working Schedule: 

5 days, flexibility in timing of shifts related to weather and other farm needs. Days off may not be consecutive based on small business/horse/weather related needs.
