Farm Hand / Dairy Herdsman – Full Time (40 hrs/week)

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Hand and Dairy Herdsman to join our farm. The ideal candidate will have a passion for farming and agriculture, with experience in animal handling and husbandry. This role involves a variety of tasks essential to the daily operations of the farm, ensuring the health and well-being of our animals and pastures. We are looking for a dependable, experienced farm worker to join our farm. This is a salaried full-time position (40 hours per week)

Job Responsibilities:

• Independent work and responsibility for daily routines
• Assist in daily farm operations, including milking 12-16 cows daily.
• Once-a-day milking of dairy cows
• Daily livestock care (feeding, health checks, barn upkeep)
• Grounds and pasture care (fencing, mowing, general upkeep)
• Provide care for livestock, including feeding, watering, and monitoring health conditions.
• Conduct routine sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment for both animals and general farm care.
• Farm maintenance and basic repairs
• Operate and maintain farm equipment, demonstrating mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Engage in heavy lifting as required for various farming tasks.

Qualifications

• References are required
• Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks and be trustworthy
• Previous experience in livestock care is required
• Must have hands-on experience with dairy cows
• Knowledge of animal handling techniques and animal husbandry practices is essential.
• Basic knowledge of farm maintenance and repairs
• Basic mechanical knowledge to operate farm machinery effectively.
• Basic carpentry helpful but not required
• Strong ability to perform heavy lifting as needed throughout the workday.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of sanitation on the farm.
