Reports To: Director of Operations (functional barn operations) & Director of Programs (equine and youth programming)
Location: Seamark Ranch – Green Cove Springs, FL

 

Job Summary

The Equine Program & Barn Manager is a full-time, on-site role responsible for the daily management of Seamark Ranch’s horse barn and equine program. This position combines barn operations with direct youth engagement through horse care, riding lessons, and Christian-based equine discipleship programming. The Manager will serve both children placed at Seamark Ranch and children and families in crisis from the broader community. In addition, this role supports overall ranch operations and contributes to agriculture programming.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Barn & Equine Management

  • Provide daily oversight of horse health, nutrition, exercise, and wellness care.
  • Supervise and execute feeding schedules, veterinary and farrier care, and medical recordkeeping.
  • Ensure barn facilities are safe, clean, and welcoming for youth, families, staff, and visitors.
  • Manage equine supply inventory (feed, tack, equipment, veterinary supplies) and order with approval.
  • Develop and enforce safety standards for all equine activities in alignment with Seamark policies and DCF licensing requirements.

Instruction & Programming

  • Teach horseback riding lessons to youth of varying ages and skill levels, focusing on safety, skill development, and character growth.
  • Design and deliver Christ-centered equine programming that integrates biblical teaching with horsemanship principles for Seamark youth and community participants.
  • Partner with the Clinical Director and Recreational Therapist to incorporate equine-assisted therapy and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Mentor youth in work ethic, responsibility, and teamwork through barn chores and horse care.

Community Outreach

  • Facilitate equine programs for community children and families in crisis, referred by partner ministries, schools, or foster agencies.
  • Represent Seamark Ranch equine programming with excellence to donors, visitors, and volunteers.

Ranch & Family Support

  • Participate in general ranch operations as needed, including maintenance, groundskeeping, and agricultural projects.
  • Collaborate with ranch leadership to support special events (e.g., Rodeo at the Ranch, Mud Run, donor tours).

 

Qualifications

  • Strong Christian faith and commitment to Seamark’s mission and statement of faith.
  • Energetic, self-motivated leader with a heart for children and families in crisis.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a horse barn and equine program independently and professionally.
  • Experience teaching riding lessons and working with youth in a discipleship or mentoring context.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Physical ability to handle labor demands (lift 50 lbs, work outdoors year-round, long hours on feet).

 

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree in equine studies, education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in barn management, equine instruction, or related role.
  • Experience in ministry, youth work, or Christian discipleship strongly preferred.
  • Certifications in equine instruction or equine-assisted therapy desirable (or willingness to obtain).
