QUALIFICATIONS:           1. A Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred
                                          2. Current Iowa Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) required
                                          3. Successful teaching experience preferred

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage instructional time effectively
  • Knowledge of elementary child development and age-appropriate instructional practices
  • Ability to design and deliver hands-on, project-based learning experiences
  • Able to prioritize, organize and accomplish assigned work
  • Such alternative to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Plan, evaluate, and revise agriculture-related curricula, course content, materials, and instructional methods aligned with the Iowa Core, district curriculum, and elementary learning standards. Contribute to the selection of materials and supplies while implementing designated curriculum.
  2. Develop and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate agriculture instruction that introduces students to topics such as plants, animals, food systems, environmental stewardship, and basic agricultural concepts.
  3. Employ a variety of instructional strategies including hands-on activities, demonstrations, outdoor learning, and experiential projects appropriate for elementary students.
  4. Integrate agriculture education with other subject areas (science, math, literacy, social studies) where appropriate.
  5. Supplement grade level concepts and science standards where possible.
  6. Contribute to the selection, care, and management of instructional materials, tools, and supplies related to agriculture instruction.
  7. Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  8. Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  9. Promote student engagement, curiosity, and responsible behavior while fostering an appreciation for agriculture and the environment.
  10. Supervise students during instructional activities, including classroom, laboratory, outdoor, or garden-based learning experiences.
  11. Follow professional practices consistent with school policies in working with students, students’ records, parents and/or colleges.
  12. Maintain a professional demeanor in dealings with parents and students.
  13. Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  14. Establish and maintain appropriate classroom management procedures to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.
  15. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence; stay abreast of developments in the field.
  16. Attend staff meetings, professional development and serve on committees as required or requested.
  17. Maintain accurate, complete and appropriate records and files.
  18. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  19. Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  20. Provide adequate information, plans and material for substitute teachers.
  21. Have regular and reliable attendance.
  22. Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day under reasonable terms.
  23. Act as an advisor to student organizations.
  24. To assume such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent, building principal, or his/her designee.

  • Capable of standing for long periods of time while instructing

  • Must provide certification of good health prior to employment
 

 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:           Salary and work year to be determined in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between CCEA and CCSD.

EVALUATION:                 Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between CCEA and CCSD.
