Crop Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Crop Specialist to support a designated book of crop insurance business. In this preferred licensed role, you will work closely with Clients, Producers, and Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs) throughout the full policy lifecycle from applications, acreage and production reporting, policy changes, renewals, and claims coordination.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, knowledgeable in crop insurance regulations, and committed to delivering exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
- Partner with producers to gather information and other supporting data to complete required applications, documents and reports
- Assists with applications and producing necessary supplements and forms
- Develop knowledge of insurance carriers processing systems to accurately administer applications, including production and acreage reporting by deadlines
- Review all documents and policies for data and coverage accuracy
- Prepare and send correspondence on all new and renewal policies to the client
- Report all new claims and manage ongoing claims as needed
- Process policy cancellations and notify client
- Thoroughly document accounts using the agency’s management system
- Maintain working knowledge of crop insurance regulatory rules along with carrier regulations and policies
- Mentor junior staff and provide training as needed
- Follow established workflows, regulatory guidelines, and internal service standards
- Participate in training and development opportunities to expand industry knowledge and compliance awareness
- Provide support to the team during peak periods or absences and assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
- Periodic travel may be required to attend in-person meetings, training sessions, and educational events
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of insurance companies and Crop regulatory agencies’ guidelines and underwriting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and delegate
- Leadership and mentoring skills
- Follow instructions and tasks through to completion in a timely manner
- Computer proficient and knowledgeable with Microsoft Office
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Property & Casualty Insurance License in resident state and a CA non-resident license preferred

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Crop insurance, or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, education, and experience
