The Department of Agricultural Economics at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a 60% research and 40% teaching faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position carries the expectations of excellence in research and teaching, commensurate with the land grant mission of Oklahoma State University.
Position description
This is an 11-month tenure-track faculty position in agricultural finance in the Agricultural Economics Department (60% research, 40% teaching). The individual will conduct research on the economic viability and financial management of agricultural enterprises, including farm credit, risk management, and investment strategies. They will analyze the impact of agricultural policies, commodity markets, and land values on farm profitability and rural economies. Additionally, their work may involve developing financial tools and models to support decision-making for farmers, agribusinesses, and policymakers.
- Develop a nationally recognized research program in agricultural finance
- Communicate research results to professional peers, industry, and the public through refereed journal articles, trade publications, professional meeting papers and presentations, broadcast media, factsheets and other appropriate outlets
- Serve as advisor and research supervisor for M.S. and Ph.D. students
- Teach four courses per year in agricultural finance and applied economics
- Cultivate external support from private and governmental sources
- Assist in developing and/or delivering programs for Oklahoma farmers, ranchers, agribusinesses, and lending institutions
Qualifications
A Ph.D. degree in agricultural economics, economics, finance or closely related discipline. The successful candidate must be well trained in economic theory and quantitative techniques and have an ability to work with departmental and interdisciplinary university faculty groups, financial institutions, agribusinesses and governmental agencies. Effective communication skills, both
written and oral, are essential.

Salary and starting date
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will be filled by January 1, 2026, or as soon thereafter as the successful candidate is available. Contingent upon available funding.
