Applicator & Agronomy Field Sales Representative –Timberville

Our Timberville location is seeking a bright, energetic, and focused individual to join our team in a full-time hybrid role that combines applicator responsibilities with agronomy field sales and service. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both hands-on field work and building strong customer relationships through agronomic support.

Job Summary

This position performs agronomy field sales and service functions while also operating equipment for the application and delivery of crop input products. You will be responsible for scouting fields, updating digital records, performing variable rate applications, supporting crop planning, and delivering exceptional service. This role reports to the Agronomy Division Manager and includes a combination of field work, digital system input, and customer interaction.

 

Key Responsibilities

Applicator Duties

  • Drive nurse trucks (dry or liquid) to deliver inputs to fields and farms
  • Custom apply fertilizers and crop protection products
  • Assist customers with orders and on-site needs
  • Operate and maintain application and transportation equipment
  • Work some Saturdays as needed
  • Maintain accurate records and operate basic computer systems
  • Ensure safe driving and equipment operation

Agronomy Sales & Service Duties

  • Maintain a regular field scouting schedule and provide reports to customers
  • Review and update lists of key farmers and prospects
  • Develop and support crop plans and nutrient management plans in coordination with outside planners
  • Submit work orders through the Analytics System and manage mapping integration into Merchant Ag
  • Coordinate soil sampling, lime applications, pest control, and off-season planning
  • Design and manage annual field plots focused on profitability and sustainability
  • Set up and conduct variable rate applications
  • Handle customer complaints and vendor issues professionally
  • Assist with crop finance programs and administer credit policy
  • Represent the company at trade shows and networking events
  • Maintain digital literacy on required agronomy and business platforms
  • Attend team meetings and collaborate closely with other agronomy and retail staff
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s or associate degree in agriculture preferred
  • Previous agriculture-related work experience preferred
  • Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) and Nutrient Management Certification required (or willingness to obtain)
  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel) and basic digital agronomy tools
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Good driving record required
  • Self-starting attitude with the ability to work remotely as needed
  • Some overnight travel may be required for events or trade shows
