Primary Purpose:
Provide students with instruction in Agricultural Science courses with an emphasis on Agricultural Equipment Design and Fabrication, Agricultural Structures Design and Fabrication, and Agricultural Mechanics and Metal Technologies. The teacher will facilitate student learning through hands-on, project-based instruction aligned to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Career and Technical Education (CTE) standards, while supporting student leadership development through FFA and related activities.


Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate in Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources
OR ability to obtain appropriate certification in accordance with district and state requirements 
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check 

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to teach and manage a classroom/lab environment effectively
Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
Knowledge of student engagement strategies and project-based instruction
Ability to build a highly engaging and industry-relevant classroom program

Experience:
Experience and/or strong working knowledge in:
•    Agricultural Science and/or Agricultural Mechanics
•    Welding, metal fabrication, or shop-based instruction
•    Safe operation of tools, equipment, and machinery
•    Agricultural equipment, structural design, fabrication, or construction processes
Experience supervising students in a hands-on lab or shop environment
Experience planning and delivering instruction that supports technical skill development

Preferred Experience:
Experience teaching Agricultural Mechanics or related CTE courses
Experience with FFA advising and student leadership development
Experience supervising Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) projects
Experience working with or supporting livestock projects
Experience preparing students for FFA CDEs/LDEs or agricultural mechanics competitions
Industry experience in welding, fabrication, agricultural equipment, or construction
Minimum of 3�5 years of relevant teaching and/or industry experience preferred


Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1.    Deliver instruction in: 
•    Agricultural Equipment Design and Fabrication
•    Agricultural Structures Design and Fabrication
•    Agricultural Mechanics and Metal Technologies

2.    Develop and implement lessons aligned to TEKS and CTE standards.

3.    Provide hands-on instruction in:
•    Welding and fabrication
•    Agricultural mechanics
•    Tool and equipment safety
•    Blueprint reading and structural design

4.    Maintain a safe and organized shop/lab environment.

5.    Monitor and evaluate student progress.
6.    Prepare students for college, career, certification, and workforce readiness.
7.    Support and supervise student participation in:

•    FFA
•    Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) projects
•    Agricultural mechanics builds and competitions
•    Livestock exhibitions and related events

8.    Maintain accurate records, inventory, and safety documentation.
9.    Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders.
10.    Collaborate with campus staff, CTE leadership, and industry/community partners to enhance student opportunities.
11.    Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records for grades, attendance, and program documentation.
12.    Participate in district and campus professional development, meetings, and required trainings.
13.    Attend and support FFA events, competitions, and student activities.
14.    Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
15.    Perform other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (up to 40+ lbs.)
Environment: Occasional program-related travel for events
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, effective
management and public relation skills; maintain emotional control under stress; ability to maintain a safe, 
organized, and structured learning environment
