Principal / Assistant Principal
Qualifications:
- SC Certificate, license, or other legal credential required
- Degrees(s) required and area of major study from an accredited college or university
- Prior job experience preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Performance Responsibilities:
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request on immediately superior
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
- Maintains accurate records and daily attendance
- Inventories equipment
- Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to tools and equipment as required
- Evaluates each pupil’s performance, knowledge, and skills
- Selects and requisitions instructional aids and equipment, maintains required inventory records, makes purchases as authorized
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities
- Communicates with parents and school counselors on the individual pupil’s progress
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems
- Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities
- Formulates and administers a comprehensive, modern program of agricultural education
- Maintains close working relationships with community and state agencies and area businesses, industries, and labor organization, in order to provide training consistent with needs, and establishes lay advisory committees as needed
- Appraises and evaluates the total agricultural program to achieve the established goals of providing the opportunity for people to prepare for gainful employment
- Maintains current knowledge of all pertinent rules and regulations affecting agricultural education
- Advises and assists in obtaining state and federal funds for agricultural education programs
- Assumes responsibility for the collection, review and submission of all forms and reports relative to agricultural education to state agencies
- Advises schools FFA Chapter and holds regular meetings
- Notifies administrators, newspapers and other media about competitions and other FFA related events
- Plans practices for and attends at least one competition
- Attends (with students) at least one FFA related workshop or summer camp
- Helps plan and provide supervised agricultural experience programs (SAEP) for students
- Plans and provides adult classes related to community interests and needs
- Supervisor may assign other duties as needed

Pay Scale
GCSD Teacher scale: (based on 190 day teacher scale - will include additional days if fully SC Agriculture certified - https://5il.co/1wznz
