Crop & Soil Sciences is a Department with diverse disciplines that encompass research, extension and teaching related to soil science and theory and the genetic improvement, production and utilization of agronomic and turf-grass crops. Leaders in research and applied science and the engagement and technology transfer to public and/or private sector practitioners.
Essential Job Duties
The incumbent will assist in tissue culture and genetic engineering of medicinal plants in a plant biotechnology research program with the objective of plant metabolic engineering to affect natural product composition. The incumbent will be responsible for making tissue culture media, carrying out plant tissue culture and plant regeneration experiments, and maintenance and characterization of transgenic plants using basic plant molecular biology techniques. Occasionally, the incumbent may also be involved in management of field, greenhouse, and growth chamber experiments and in the collection of data from such experiments.
Other related duties as assigned.
