Summary: Ensures operation of machinery and facility by performing preventative maintenance and repair. Performs the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Models safe work practices and complies with all applicable safety rules and policies. 
-Identifies/prioritizes necessary repairs through communication with Facility and Farm Manager and review of job requests.
-Completes preventative maintenance requirements and repairs for rolling stock including: feedtrucks, tractors, loaders, pickups, trailers, and other heavy equipment.
-Locates sources of problems through diagnostic measures and reports repetitive issues to Facility and Farm Manager.
-Manages parts and tool inventories by researching costs, designing inventory systems, determining required inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies and placing orders.
-Responsible for operating and maintaining feedlot irrigation systems.
-Manages expenses by researching costs and utilizing best options for long term solutions.
-Maintains maintenance records by documenting observations, work performed, and parts used.
-Maintains shop appearance by disposing of trash, putting away supplies/tools, discarding items no longer usable. 
-Responsible for daily housekeeping - including cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and organizing shop work areas. 
-Will participate in yard construction, renovation, and repair projects. 
-Complies with applicable OSHA, FDA, and EPA regulations; maintains appropriate compliance records.

•Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Language Ability: Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
•Math Ability: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
•Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
