Job Summary:

This is a seasonal position in the Grounds Department working 40 hours per week for 4 months per year.  Position will maintain and improve assigned campus landscape and hardscape areas

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Carries out the tasks that are assigned to maintain the campus grounds including but not limited to watering, planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, blowing, raking, trash police, digging etc.
  • Assures the policies of the univeristy and department as well as safety regulations are known and observed by grounds maintenance personnel
  • Must ensure that proper horticultural techniques are used in conjunction with common weed and pest management concepts as well as green industry safety standards are to be utilized in daily operations
  • Particpates in leaf and snow removal and emergency work as assigned
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of landscape and construction equipment as assigned
  • Pesticide Application as needed
  • Assist in campus events and/or educational outreach activities as assigned
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Frequent lifting 25 lbs. or more
  • Climbing ladders, scaffolds
  • Using tools requiring high dexterity

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Plant and weed identification

Required Education, Experience, and License:

  • HS Diploma
  • Two years direct and three years indirect experience required
  • Pesticide application experience
  • Landscape maintenance equipment operation experience
  • PA Driver’s License
