The NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provides services that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness and forests; protect consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the prosperity of all North Carolinians. This position will assist the AFRPS (Animal Feed Regulatory Program Standards) Coordinator in conducting the self-assessment against the AFRPS Standards by conducting timely and thorough review of requested areas of current feed law to include the rules and regulations by which the laws are enforced. Position will assist in the development and writing of policies and procedures for all areas within the program to include inspections, feed related emergency response investigations, sampling, compliance, training, and audits; maintain a feed facility inventory; conduct a facility risk assessment; establish criteria for field and desk audits; develop an enforcement matrix; review current sampling plans for improvements needed for collecting, storing and transporting samples; and assist with the development and implementation of outreach programs targeting feed safety.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in animal science, poultry science or related curriculum with coursework in nutrition from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in feed manufacturing and compliance work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
