Ranch Manager Busy, public horseback riding/training facility looking for responsible/dependable/professional, full-time, year-round Ranch Manager for mid-size trail-riding company. The person holding this position is primarily responsible for the function of the ranch facilities. 

Ranch Manager: The ideal candidate would have some maintenance or property management background with a good understanding of existing skills and limitations, willingness to learn, significant experience with horses, and be a cheerful member of a team as well as a self-starter. Some hands on help with facility grooming & animal care/maintenance is expected.  Must be willing to be on call for after-hours emergencies. Working on weekends and holidays is required.This position requires the applicant to submit a resume and an introductory letter including personal/professional goals for 1, 5, and 8 years.

Primary Purpose

The role of ranch manager is property management as it relates to horses, riding, programming involving horses, and best practices for horse keeping.

SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE BARN MANAGER (but not limited to)

  • Biweekly feed runs, in conjunction with Barn Manager
  • Check, fill and scrub water troughs as needed
  • Keep truck maintenance up to date
  • Maintain integrity of pastures and land, honoring mixed herd rotational grazing and ecological restoration practices 
  • Repair all fences
  • Prep barn and equipment when extreme temperatures occur
  • Track and schedule vet, farrier, dental, chiropractic and other horse care appointments
  • Attend leadership and staff development trainings
  • Maintain cleanliness, appearance and organization of barn, pastures, arenas, all ranch vehicles and equipment
  • Daily checks of fences and gates for safety and proper working order as well as electric fence boxes
  • Monthly checks and maintenance of farm equipment including filling truck and UTV with gasoline/oil

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS (Must meet 2 of the following)

  • Education and/or the equivalent experience of a 4-year degree in Equine Studies
  • Horse & Ranch ownership or primary caretaker for a minimum of 3 years
  • Three years or more professional work in horse industry
  • Three or more years horse training experience through approved resistance-free training methods

Work Location:

  • One primary location, some day travel

Schedule:

  • Flexible schedule, 1-2 full weekdays off a week, which may shift if necessary. Position requires on-call for emergency situations.

Hours per week:

  • 55-75

Typical start time:

  • 7:30am

Typical end time:

  • 7:30pm
