Product Technician I
Illinois Foundation Seed Inc. (IFSI) is an independent company delivering the leading research, product development, licensing, and production for the seed industry’s sweet corn and field crops. Illinois Foundation Seeds, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Product Technician with primary responsibilities in Tolono, IL, that will assist in all facets of the production facilities, conditioning, warehousing, shipping, receiving and daily operations in addition to contributing to quality, record keeping and safety  

Responsibilities:

Assist with plant and packaging activities to assure standards and timelines are met for the following:

  • Inbred MVK & Hybrid test seed receiving, conditioning, packaging and distribution
  • Inventory audits / Discards
  • Quality testing deadlines
  • Treatment reporting and tracking

Custom Conditioning Contracts

  • Assist as needed with customer incoming/outgoing shipments
  • Assist with conditioning, treating, rebagging and warehousing of seed
  • Participate in customer interactions

Production Facilities & Sites

  • Assist as needed with buildings, equipment and tool maintenance
  • Assist as needed onsite upkeep of facility grounds and infrastructure

Personnel Management

  • Assist in managing seasonal and part time labor
  • Support and participate in operating budgets
  • Assist as needed in researching inputs for quality and cost effectiveness

Support and model a facility culture that meets or exceeds standards in the following:

  • A team environment
  • Goals and Objectives
  • Health and safety
  • Stewardship

 Qualifications / Knowledge Needed:

  • High School degree with 2 years of experience in the Seed/Agriculture Industry
  • Ability to effectively manage seasonal and part time labor
  • Competent basic knowledge of Excel, Word software programs
  • General understanding of seed conditioning, treating and packaging equipment
  • Customer relationship skills
  • Ability to obtain a CDL
  • Ability to obtain a pesticide license
  • Experience operating farm equipment
  • Ability to work extended hours during seasonal peaks
  • Ability to work outside in varying environments and heights
  • Reliable transportation to jobsite
  • Ability to work independently and multitask
  • Ability to comprehend English language
