Organic Vegetable Apprenticeship

This is a family farm located in the rural ridges and valleys of south central PA. New Morning Farm produces approximately 45 different crops, all certified organic. Crops include herbs in addition to most standard garden vegetables. Produce is marketed directly to customers at our Washington D.C. farmers' markets. We have team of about 18 peak season, but continue marketing and growing year round.  The farming apprenticeship program is well developed after 49 seasons and has helped many aspiring growers launch their own farming careers.  Apprentices are managers of crops and jobs, learning our systems, while taking ownership of their responsibilities.  Each apprentice has a direct impact on the success of the farm.  Apprentices are exposed to all aspects of organic vegetable production, allowing skill developement in the crop and market management, leadership, and business management. 

Apprenticeship Starts: April-May 2021

Apprenticeship Ends: November 2021 with strong opportunities for year round work and second year encouraged

Number of Openings: 2

Compensation: $1100+/mo commensurate with experience, AND full room and board

Skills Desired: Previous work on farms and/or outdoor physical labor is preferred. Enthusiasm, work ethic, organization, and willingness to work as a team are qualities that make for a successful apprenticeship.
