General Purpose
Niewohner Trucking, part of Niewohner Entities, is seeking a Livestock Hauler (Hogs) to safely and efficiently transport hogs from units to markets or processing facilities, with animal welfare as the top priority.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Focus on Core Priorities: Ensure that animal health & welfare, employee safety, and overall productivity remain the top priorities in all operations.
- Punctuality: Arrive at work on time and begin daily activities promptly.
- Adherence to Guidelines: Follow all requirements and guidelines set by Owners and Managers, as well as the policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Animal Handling: Safely load and unload animals according to established protocols to minimize stress and ensure welfare.
- Compliance: Follow all state and federal driving regulations, including the prohibition on holding phones while driving (headsets required).
- Efficiency and Consistency: Complete all assigned tasks accurately, consistently, and in line with company policies. Delegate tasks when necessary and assist in training.
- Paperwork Management: Handle all required documentation, whether for swine, cattle, distillers, or other transported goods.
- Livestock Sorting: Sort and move hogs as directed.
- Health and Paperwork Checks: Inspect all incoming livestock for health, correct paperwork, and headcount.
- Coordination: Work closely with the office and feed crew to ensure smooth livestock sorting and movement.
- Teamwork: Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, camaraderie, safety, and an enjoyable workplace.
- Equipment Maintenance: Check oil and fluids regularly, keep equipment and cab clean, and perform routine maintenance. Ensure vehicles are fueled at the end of the day.
- Safety: Stay alert and operate all equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Collaboration: Work in close coordination with Owners and the Manager to ensure smooth operations.
- Purchasing Protocols: Do not make purchases without prior approval. Return all receipts to the designated office location.
- Environmental Awareness: Be vigilant for any potential environmental concerns and report them to the Manager.
- Cost Efficiency: Strive to minimize waste and continuously seek ways to reduce costs.
