As a Beck’s field agronomist, you’ll support and educate our sales staff, dealers, and customers throughout the growing season with the ultimate goal of helping farmers succeed. You will aid in decisions on product placement and planting, provide harvest support, train sales staff and dealers on new and current products, and help with in-field troubleshooting.   • Assist designated staff members in selling efforts with dealers, specific customers, and prospective customers that need additional agronomic support / contact.
  • Proactively promote and inform the Area Team sales staff on current and potential upcoming agronomic issues that affect growing crops.
  • Contribute monthly articles to Beck’s Hybrids CropTalk newsletter
  • Collaborate with the Beck’s Practical Farm Research department on activities that support Beck’s sales efforts.
  • Contribute to Beck’s Practical Farm Research (PFR) efforts on new ideas and testing programs as it relates to PFR.
  • Assist other Agronomists with designated agronomic testing, training and sales projects.
  • Perform field service calls, participate in area functions as requested, and evaluate product performance within designated areas
  • Collaborate with university and industry contacts
  • Attend commercially sponsored workshops and seminars to gain agronomic knowledge
  • Scout the PFR plots during the growing season, following PFR Plot Scouting protocols, taking observational notes, in an effort to determine the reasons for the plot results.
  • Communicate scouting observations through multiple media channels, including video, social media outlets, and written communication.
  • Assist the PFR team in analyzing research data and writing the technical result summaries for the PFR book.
  • Speak on research findings at Field Shows, Insight Meetings, PFR tours, and other company events, as deemed necessary by the PFR Operations Manager.
  • Assist in training Seed Advisors, Field Agronomists, and Dealers on research findings.
  • Train field show presenters on the studies associated with their talks.
  • Perform other duties as may be requested by the Area Team Leader


1. Education and training:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record as determined by Beck’s automobile insurance policy.

2. Technical knowledge:

  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) License
  • Basic computer and current software skills
  • Chauffer license or equivalent required.

3. Physical demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination and obtain Medical Examiner’s Certificate may be required.

4. Experience:

Minimum of two (2) years experience in agronomy is preferred
