North Tabor Farm

Chilmark, Massachusetts

Deadline Jun 04, 2021
Job Type Seasonal / temporary

North Tabor Farm is a small organic (but non-certified) diverse farm on the island of Martha's Vineyard. We are entering our 26th year and are increasing our regenerative approaches to agriculture.  We are looking for hard-working, food-loving people who want to learn small scale farming in a beautiful environment. We are team-oriented, usually with a crew of about 3-4 people who end up spending a lot of time together.

Our family farm operates on 10 acres of land located in a rural part of the island near many walking/biking trails and a public beach.  Our crops include heirloom vegetables, salad greens, tomatoes, shiitake mushrooms, blueberries, and more.

We are also increasing our local meat and egg production, with over 200 laying hens, and have a regular cycle of pasture-raised poultry, processed on-site weekly.

We grow primarily for our onsite farm stand and two very busy farmers’ markets per week. We have 2 full-time positions available for farmworkers beginning in March or April and finishing in October.

Candidates must have past farming experience with tractor/irrigation skills as a plus. The right person must also have good communication skills, be self-motivated, have a positive attitude, and a keen sense of awareness. Workdays are full and diverse, 5 ½ days and around 50 hours per week. Duties include seeding, pruning, planting, weeding, harvesting, processing vegetables, helping with farm maintenance, deliveries, farmers’ markets, and animal care.

PART-TIME positions are also available, 20/hour per week for peak season (June, July, August.) No housing is offered for part-time positions.

Baseline pay is $15 per hour plus a bonus of $1 per hour worked upon season completion. Pay rate may increase with advanced farming experience. Onsite rustic housing available for a 7-hour weekly work exchange.
