Position and/or Unit Overview:
The person in this position will have the primary responsibility for operation, adjustment and maintenance of a variety of hydraulic and power driven farm implements at NCROC. The position is a 100 percent 12 month continuous appointment.

Major Areas of Accountability:
(These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment related tasks in any position of this class. )

Equipment Operation (55%)
Operate a variety of equipment. This includes, but is not limited to: Tillage implements (discs, harrows, field cultivators, deep tillage equipment etc.) corn planters, combine, grain drills, seeders, fertilizers w/grass seed attachments, mowing machines, hay bines, swathers, power rakes, other windrow equipment, field forage choppers, corn pickers, corn shellers, grinders, hay balers, hay loading and handling equipment (tractors and skid steers), inline bale wrappers, manure spreader implements, and various pesticide spray equipment. Also, must haul cattle, hay and straw, and various implements and equipment on various gooseneck trailers.

Equipment and Field Repair Maintenance (20%)
Conducts routine maintenance, including cleaning, greasing and oiling farm equipment. Assemble and make adjustments and minor repairs to farm machinery and other equipment as needed to complete tasks. Makes emergency field repair to power implements and farm machinery. Performs general maintenance repair at facility to include but not limited to barns, sheds, fencing, tree trimming and irrigation lines etc. Helps keep records for equipment maintenance, work with operations manager on forage and grain harvest records, and also keep pesticide application track and record pesticide application and manure application records.

Snow removal (10%)
Operates snow plows, front-end loaders, and other snow removing equipment, including snow blower and hand removal equipment.

Assist with Animal Care (10%)
Works with and helps assist in animal care and calving. Including helping clean out barn of bedding and manure. Occasionally assist in the moving of cattle with a goose-neck stock trailer.

Chemical Sprayers (5%)
Calibrates adjusts and operates sprayers. Mixes chemicals according to instructions.

Essential Qualifications:
• Commercial driver’s license.
• Pesticide applicators license (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
• High school graduate or GED with minimum 1 year of full time experience in the operation of a variety of power driven farm implements in large-scale farming operation
• A valid Minnesota driver’s license.
• Position requires ability to walk or stand for majority of day, bend, climb, carry, lift, push and pull 50 lbs. or more.
