Vintage Wine Estates is a dynamic, growing organization seeking an Enologist to join our Tamarack Cellars team. Performs enology and production functions under the direction of the Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker. Assist the production staff in the execution of cellar work orders and bottling activities. Responsible for analyzing, tracking, and identifying status and the quality of wines. Manage information, in conjunction with the Assistant Winemaker, through us of Microsoft Dynamics NAV “Vinpoint” tracking system to track all bulk wine analysis and movement.


  • Partners with production personnel to coordinate work order execution
  • Reviews wine analysis, communicates out-of-specification wines to winemaker
  • Participates in monitoring fermentation activity and analysis/management of grapes received during harvest
  • Maintains and sorts data from winemaking trials, experiments and wine processing operations
  • Participates in bench trials; conducts and manages certain trials and experiments
  • Manages sample requests and inventory tasting
  • Participates in the management of winery workflow processes using internal company software system
  • Collaborates with Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker recordkeeping program and shares complex spreadsheets (mainly MS Excel and MS access)
  • Participates in wine tasting and sensory evaluation
  • Monitors wine quality
  • Monitors QA/QC during bottling
  • Collaborates with Winemaker and Cellar Master coordination of bottling packages, and bottling raw material and the shipping of finished goods
  • Assist in operating of bottling line machines and equipment
  • Coordinates the receivables ordering and coding, within functional area
  • Coordinates with Winemaker, accounts payable and procurement within functional area
  • Understand operating principles and capable of operating all laboratory equipment
  • Maintain control checks on all analytical equipment and techniques
  • Provide regular inventories, and order all laboratory supplies
  • During harvest: Process grape samples for analysis and participate in all aspects of production from receiving to processing, inoculations, pressing, and various cellar activities.


  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex issues and recommend action
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific journals
  • Ability to responds to common inquires or complaints from customers, or members of the business community
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups as well as to the cellar crew and winemaking staff


  • Associates’ degree or equivalent in enology, viticulture or a related field; or more than five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education experience
  • Current valid Driver’s License, insurable driving record, and proof of current automobile insurance required
  • Forklift driving skills desirable
  • Knowledge of wine and wine industry
  • Knowledge of Wine Production software, Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in an evolving environment with enthusiasm


  • Must be able to bend, squat, climb, push, stoop and crouch repeatedly
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods as required by job duties
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously


Must be able to work a flexible schedule, extended hours during harvest
