Job Summary:

Plan and oversee luxury winemaking operations from initial process through and including bottling activities and trade relations. This function will guide the broad activities of winemaking, directing the luxury winemaking through oversight of the day-to-day and week-to-week operations.

  • Develop and direct the planning necessary to produce and make ready the forecasted volumes of luxury products for each program
  • Lead and manage luxury winemaking.
  • Interact with Vineyard Department to insure viticultural practices support luxury winemaking goals.
  • Responsible for all HR activities for the luxury winemaking organization to include: hiring, training, directing, monitoring performance, and providing feedback.
  • Lead/participate luxury winemaking organization to ensure department maintains and updates knowledge of vineyard and winemaking procedures, testing procedures.
  • Initiate communication with all staff including organizing and conducting effective meetings.
  • Initiate, direct, and implement winemaking and vineyard projects.
  • Prepare and manage awnnual budgets/expenses for luxury wine production.
  • Provide information and direction for the strategic and long-range luxury production plans.
  • Responsible for communicating and ensuring employees understand QMS-related activities, including the quality policy and the quality objectives.
  • Responsible for implementing Food Safety programs and HARPC for all satellite wineries.
  • Responsible for understanding the Food Safety and Quality Management System and related activities, including the SQF Food Safety & Quality Policy and Ethical Sourcing.
  • Food Safety Responsibility: Report problems, initiate and record actions within the food safety management system.
  • Assure compliance requirements are achieved. Coordinate with Wine Tracking and Compliance.
  • Develop written procedures for all cellar activities. Oversee training & compliance with procedures.
  • Learn and assist in the raw material procurement system.
  • Special projects as assigned.


  • BS in Enology, Viticulture, Fermentation Sciences. Advance education preferred.
  • Significant hands-on winemaking experience – minimum 5-10 years of luxury winemaking management and operations experience.
  • Direct experience with wine quality and style, to include production, blending, fining, tasting.
  • Familiarity with most/all of the California, Washington & Oregon luxury winegrowing regions.
  • Current knowledge of winemaking techniques and analytical methods.
  • Experience in large volume winery facilities.
  • Strong, proven business and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated team building experience.
  • Strong creative and analytical thinker. Excellent problem solving ability.
  • Computer skills (MS Office Suite).
  • Financial management and strategic planning experience: preparing budgets and project estimates, and monitoring expenses to plan with attention to detail.
  • Passion for and interest in the wine industry.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, organization skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Moderate to heavy physical work.
  • Work site may be any one of Trinchero Family Estates’ facilities.
  • Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day).
  • Must comply with all safety equipment requirements including ear plugs and safety glasses.
  • Exposure to various chemicals in production areas.
  • Exposure to machinery, forklifts and related production equipment.
  • Long and irregular hours during peak periods or on various shifts.
  • Extensive walking and lifting of up to 40 pounds.
