PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs a wide variety of lab and field work.
  • Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results.
  • Assist in the operations of nursery projects to include, but not limited to, planting, field plot management, data collection, harvesting, and post-harvest activities.
  • Data collection- ie- germination notes, emergence, stand counts, flowering notes
  • Effectively track, record and report project.
  • Able to lead cross-functional teams to complete varied projects. Delegates tasks to team members who have specific skills to obtain highest performance.
  • Assist PFD group to maintains equipment and inventory levels for general supplies for the operation (Forecasting).
  • Develops and maintains records for the project performed (QMS).
    Conduct Scouting for weeds, pest and nutrients and establish the preventive and corrective plan.
  • Assist the station and PFD group by Implement cutting-edge techniques, conduct field trials to evaluate modern technologies or farming methods.
  • Supervise Seasonal Field Technicians.
  • Crop activities
  • Assay sprays
  • Pesticide and fertilizer applications
  • Travel may be required to, but not limited to, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Missouri.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SECONDARY DUTIES

Assist and support the station in ESH, HR and ISO related task.
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have prominent level in Research and Agronomy experience. Knowledge of a variety of Research and Pre-Foundation processes and a high level of interpersonal skills to handle many different tasks at the same time while supervise employees. Experience in agriculture seed increase with research knowledge in Agriculture cutting edge techniques. Proficient ability to work with data (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word and Power Point as others. Position continually requires demonstrated result-oriented behavior, innovation and problem solve skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or related field, with 2-3 years of work experience in agriculture
  • Strong Experience in agriculture seed production with knowledge in Agriculture cutting edge techniques.
  • Is seen as an expert in certain protocols and understands how they apply to and can affect the seed increase.
  • Thinks and operates independently.
  • Ability to understands group objectives and able to understand how personal performance affects those objectives. May act as mentor for lower level employees.
  • Strong computer application skills and the ability to learn new systems as needed.
  • Strong agriculture, research, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Able to work in a team and place organizational success above personal success.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Firm understanding of the business and Pipeline status

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general project owner protocols and instructions. Ability to write reports, presentations, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and peers. Fully bilingual (Spanish-English)

AGRONOMIST SKILLS

Ability to provides consistently excellent work and assists others in improving. Responds quickly to potential problems without requiring supervision. Thinks and operates independently, is seen as an expert in certain protocols and understands how they apply to and can affect the seed production. Ability to implement cutting edge techniques in area of seed production at low scale.
