Job Title: Agribusiness Specialists (Hay and Livestock)
Department: ST Bar Ranch
Reports to: Agribusiness Manager FLSA Status: Full-time Non- Exempt
Pay: Dependent on Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY
The Agribusiness Specialist is a member of the ST Bar Ranch team and always demonstrates ethical and professional behavior while promoting the company vision, mission, and core values and principles and plays a crucial role in managing our agricultural operations. Your responsibilities will encompass livestock care, hay production, and overall farm management.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Livestock Management:
- Provide technical assistance in the care and accountability of livestock.
- Assist with livestock program operations, ensuring optimal health and productivity
- Assisting in production, processing, an distributing livestock, including feed rations and commodities.
- Participate in breeding program and preventive medical treatment for livestock.
Hay Production:
- Manage hay production cycles, from planning to harvesting.
- Monitor soil health and implement soil enrichment practices
- Ensure hay quality meets industry standards
- Coordinate storage and distribution logistics for hay production
Agricultural Machinery and Facilities:
- Oversee the operation of agricultural machinery
- Assist in construction, repair, and maintenance of agricultural facilities.
- Optimize equipment efficiency and safety
Inventory and Records:
- Maintain accurate records related to livestock and hay inventory
- Prepare correspondence and reports as needed
Environmental Stewardship:
- Comply with environmental regulations and sustainable practices.
- Promote soil conservation and water resource management
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with farmhands, veterinarians, and other staff
- High school diploma or GED or relevant experience in livestock or hay production
- College coursework in agriculture- related fields is a plus.
- Valid US Driver License in good standing.
- Familiarity with hay varieties, livestock health, and breeding practices
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of agricultural production and farming practices
- Good understanding of crop and livestock management
- Ability to collaborate with the farm manager to oversee daily operations
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to supervise production teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Indian preference will be given to candidates showing proof of enrollment in a federally recognized tribe. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST:
