JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Ag Sciences Global is seeking a teaching assistant for INTAG 100N: Everyone Eats: Hunger, Food Security & Global Agriculture.
The Teaching Assistant (TA) will play a crucial role in supporting the professor in delivering high-quality instruction and facilitating a dynamic learning environment. The TA will assist with the administration of the course, contribute to student engagement, and provide academic support to undergraduate students studying global agricultural systems, food security, sustainability, and policy.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in global agriculture, food systems, sustainability, and public policy, and possess the ability to engage with students in an informative and supportive manner. This position requires excellent communication, attention to details, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within an academic setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help prepare and distribute course materials, including reviewing content on Canvas
- Provide feedback on assignments, exams, and projects in a timely and constructive manner
- Grade assignments, quizzes, exams, and other assessments, ensuring consistency and fairness in evaluation
Qualifications:
Required:
- Enrollment in or completion of a relevant undergraduate program (i.e. International Agriculture minor)
- Strong knowledge of global agricultural systems, food security challenges, sustainability issues, and agricultural policies
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible and engaging manner
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with other professors
- Experience taking INTAG 100N
Preferred:
- Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or assisting with undergraduate courses
- Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)
- Knowledge of current global agricultural trends, international food systems, and food security debates
