Lindwood Farm, a premier equine breeding facility in Western Pennsylvania, is seeking a qualified individual to work on their farm. Applicants must be experienced in all aspects of breeding/foaling mares, handling of stallions for collections and handling of yearlings for sale prep. This position is salaried, meaning that the workload can fluctuate depending on the time of year. Any candidate should expect to be working 40-60 hours per week on average, with a heavier workload during the foaling/breeding spring season. This position includes on farm housing and benefits package to the right candidate. This is more than just a job, but a lifestyle as well. Candidate should be eager to make a commitment to the farm that greatly exceeds a typical "9-5" job schedule.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Daily feedings and inspection of horses
Daily cleaning and tidiness of stalls and buildings
Assist Veterinarian or Blacksmith on their scheduled days
Keep horses current with vaccination and deworming
Ground and equipment maintenance (mowing, pasture care, minor fence repairs, light equipment maintenance, etc.)
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
The ideal candidate:
Has foaling/breeding experience
Has a great respect for animals and their welfare
Is able to work independently, using good time management to complete tasks, as well as knowing when to ask for help when needed
Enjoys working outdoors
Operate Equipment (tractors, skid loader, etc.)
Required License or Certification:
Valid Driver's License
