Job Description:

Landscape Gardeners in coordination with the Landscape Supervisors will plan, design and implement work schedules and projects to manage and maintain various areas of the campus. These areas include, but are not limited to resident cottages, apartments, administrative buildings, public space and gardens, farm and orchard acreage and woodlands.

Knowledge/Experience Requirements:

1. A high school graduate or equivalent. Post graduate degree or applicable certification preferred.

2. A valid Pa. Driver’s License.

3. Minimum of two year training in horticulture, either technical or on-the-job is desirable.

4. Ability to acquire a PA state pesticide applicator’s certification.

5. Good written, oral, organizational and basic computer skills.

Essential Functions/Professional Competencies:

  • Assist in planning, coordinating and performing any landscape management practices necessary to maintain the campus.
  • Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment at all times.
  • Operate equipment in the proper and safe manner as outlined in the operating manuals.
  • Responsible for understanding the proper use and handling of pesticides to include quantifying chemical mixtures, ratios, rates, application processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of pesticide, fertilizer and soil amendment applications.
  • Possess the ability to understand basic horticultural practices and general best management practices.
  • Supervise and assist in educating Gardeners in all of the above functions and competencies.
  • Provide feedback to Landscape Supervisors on work progress and personnel performance.
  • Initiate corrective actions and outlines for proposed work outside of scheduled work duties.
