DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION: Ph.D. required in Agronomy, Weed Science or a closely related discipline.

MINIMUM NUMBER OF YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience in Extension/outreach activities. Applicants must have experience in conducting applied field research and publishing research results in peer-reviewed journals. Applicants should have demonstrated ability to obtain competitive funding.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Department of Agronomy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a 12-month tenure-track Faculty position as a Cropping Systems Weed Scientist. This Faculty position at the Assistant Professor level carries a commitment to the important functions of Extension, research, and professional and university service as appropriate to faculty rank. The applicant selected for this position will focus on agroecologically-based approaches to weed management in corn, soybean, and small grain crops, encompassing economic, ecological, and social aspects of the farm and food systems. The individual will integrate agroecological principles into new approaches for weed management and generate novel information for herbicide-resistant weed management, protecting water quality, increasing food security, and enhancing other agroecosystem services. Research efforts will form the foundation for a strong Extension program that supports county Extension faculty members in the Agricultural and Natural Resources program area and the Community, Natural Resources, and Economic Development program area, federal and state agencies, technical service providers, industry, and Wisconsin growers. The individual will be expected to recruit and mentor graduate students in Agronomy and related programs.
